Travel to Martha's Vineyard Island

Martha’s Vineyard Island lies approximately seven miles off the southern coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Most travelers come to the island by ferry from Woods Hole, MA on the Martha’s Vineyard ferry operated by The Steamship Authority. This is the only ferry which transports vehicles as well as passengers to the island. There are several other ferries that travel to Martha's Vineyard from Falmouth, Hyannis, Montauk (Long Island, NY), Nantucket, New Bedford and Quonset Point (Rhode Island).

Many travelers also come to the Island by private boat. If you are coming by private boat, you may dock at our private docks in Edgartown Harbor when you stay at The Harborside Inn.

Another option for traveling to Martha's Vineyard is by air. Cape Air is the Island's year-round air travel provider to Martha's Vineyard. They offer flights from Boston, Hyannis, Nantucket, New Bedford and Providence. Other airlines such as US Airways Express and AirTran sometimes offer seasonal service to the Island as well. Travel by private plane is also an option with flights landing at the Martha's Vineyard Regional Airport.
